New vs CPO
Save money and receive more benefits with Lexus’ Certified Pre-Owned vehicles.

All Lexus CPO vehicles have to be 6 years old or newer and can only have a maximum of 80,000 miles.  This ensures each vehicle has many miles left to drive and that drivers have access to newer technology, manufacturer warranties, and the reduced likelihood of needing major repairs.  J.D. Powers also named Lexus one of the most reliable brands in a 3-year reliability test proving you can count on quality and dependability with Lexus vehicles.

Receive other major perks like 24-hour roadside assistance, free maintenance visits, loaner car programs, and trip interruption insurance while not having to shell out the same amount of money for a new vehicle.  Non-certified pre-owned vehicles do not offer any of these perks.

Benefits of CPO vs Non-Certified
There are huge benefits to paying a little more for a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle over a non-certified vehicle.  Many manufacturers offer perks and and add protections like:

  • Inspections and warranty coverage from the manufacturer
  • 24-hour roadside assistance
  • Loaner car programs
  • No deductibles for service
  • Free maintenance offers
  • Financing options with lower interest rates than non-certified pre-owned vehicles making up for difference in purchase price

Lexus CPO vs BMW vs Mercedes
Lexus’ Certified Pre-Owned Program has be named the “Best Certified Pre-Owned Program” 3 years in a row due to the combination of it’s unlimited mileage warranty, rigorous 161-point inspection, $0 deductible for repairs, and free factory-recommended maintenance for 2 years or 20K miles. The Lexus brand has also received a 5-out-of-5 dependability rating by J.D. Power, which means your CPO Lexus is unlikely to have any serious maintenance issues.

Ares

Service Manager Aris Caseras first started in the automotive industry in 2002 and joined the Motor City Lexus family as a Service Advisor in 2017.  In 2018, Aris was promoted to Lexus Service Manager where he lives by the principle that a great leader motivates their staff “...openly and without hesitation.”

“Loving my work should be contagious and energizing to those around me.” - Aris

Outside of work, you can find Aris, his wife, and their three children volunteering for different ministries in their church.  Aris also practices Martial Arts in a discipline called Shotokan, traditional Japanese Karate, where he is currently a Brown Belt!

We asked Aris what customers can do to increase the longevity of their vehicle and he said, “With proper maintenance and care, customers' vehicles will last longer and deliver more dependable, economic performance. Regular service on customers' vehicles will help them get the best level of performance, safety, reliability and even resale value down the road.”

Aris also reminds us to not forget wheel alignments, brake services, and fuel system services, as they are some of necessary vehicle maintenance that are often neglected.  Many people don’t know that they need a wheel alignment once a year and that a fuel system service once a year or every 15,000 to 20,000 miles can prevent drivability issues due to the build up of soft carbon and deposits on the fuel system components.

If you ask Aris why customers should choose to bring their vehicle into the Motor City Lexus Service department, he wants you to know that there’s a covenant every Lexus associate and employee stands by.

“We have a desire to do things right from the start. Most importantly, we treat each customer like we’d treat a guest in our own home. This means paying attention to the details and anticipating our guests’ needs.”

Motor City Lexus Service Manager Aris Caseras is a genuinely good person with a friendly demeanor, positive attitude, and amazing leadership skills. We are proud to have him on our team!  You can reach him directly at acaceres@motorcitywest.com with any ideas on how we can improve your experience.

A3 Bakersfield

It’s not natural talent or skill, or that one insane catch featured on SportsCenter.  Athletes who make it to the highest professional levels of sport have discipline.  They are self-motivated, and they’ve taken the lessons learned along the way and used them to improve their performance.

Motivation and discipline can fly out of the window pretty quickly on any normal week, but during a pandemic, a lot of us are struggling.  And there’s no judgment in that - it’s hard!

We saw our student-athletes and A3ers struggling with motivation so we started a conversation with a group of professional athletes who train at A3; they’ve not only made it to a high level, but have sustained careers at that level.  But they’re asking the same question - now what?

In a recent Roundtable Discussion, here’s what these local Pros said about staying motivated and having discipline (despite everything they’ve worked so hard for being up in the air):

  • “Prepare yourself for what may happen. Tomorrow’s not promised as far as when we’ll play… this just gives us more time in that sense to prepare our minds and be strong mentally and our bodies be strong physically to go out there and produce and put up good numbers.” - Art Charles, First Baseman
  • Skip the worry about what the future holds and don’t allow stress to rule you.  Just focus on what you can control. “If you just control what you can control, you can cut out 40% of the stuff you’re worrying about all the time.“ - Logan Kilgore, CFL Quarterback
  • “The biggest thing golf has taught me is that it’s always one shot at a time. You can’t worry about what’s going to happen on hole 12 when you’re on hole 1. You gotta just look at what you’re dealt with at the time and try to do your best in that given moment….and then do it again, do it again, and do it again”. Manav Shah, Professional Golfer
  • Be confident and establish a routine. “[I know] I haven’t changed - and if I was successful one time, I can be successful again. It’s just about remaining consistent. [...] I guess that’s why I’ve been playing for 10 years. I’ve been doing the same things over and over and over and over and I just haven’t quit yet.”   - Anthony Orange, CFL All-Star DB
  • “Right now no one knows when we’re playing. We’re ALL in an off season. It’s very easy to get complacent. [...]. “Believe what you’re doing, make a plan, and [use] self-talk to keep yourself accountable. You can’t cheat your own work.” Justin Kelly, Pitcher

The comeback is going to be better than the setback!  If you need a team, we're all here for you!  Visit www.A3Bakersfield.com to learn about how we can help you reach your fullest potential.

COVID-19 Car Care

Many of us went from using our vehicles everyday to barely getting behind the wheel for over a month.  This dramatic drop in use can cause a few issues for your vehicle, so we wanted to help keep your investment in great shape in preparation for a return to normal usage or in case of an emergency.

Tire Pressure - Outside temperature fluctuations paired with inactivity can cause tire deflation and flat spots.  The flat spots may become rounded again with use, but if you notice a vibration while driving be sure to let your technician know to avoid tire blowouts and increase fuel efficiency while driving.

Oil Leaks - Back your vehicle out of its usual parking spot and look on the ground for any oil spots as small as a dime or as big as a dinner plate.  Take a picture and make a note of where the leak occurred on your vehicle.  It is not uncommon to have a leak from the radiator (front of vehicle), transmission (middle of vehicle), or differential (front or back of vehicle).  A picture can help your technician diagnose the issue more quickly.  Leaks are common when your vehicle sits for a long period of time, because seals can dry out and crack when not in frequent use.  A leak may not require a replacement part, but it is best to let your technician know right away.

Air Filters - With spring upon us and COVID-19 still around, it is important to have clean cabin air filters to ensure the health of your passengers and to make sure your HVAC system doesn’t burn out from working harder than necessary.  Replace cabin air filters to reduce allergens and increase longevity of your vehicle.

Battery - Vehicle batteries can rapidly discharge without regular use.  Start your vehicle once a week to keep a charge.  While idling it better than nothing, a few laps around your block will ensure battery longevity.  If you have any issues with keeping a charge, replace your battery or have the Motor City Parts department take care of it for you.  Don’t get stuck on the road with a vehicle that won’t start.

Transmission Service - If you experience a jerky or abrupt feeling while shifting gears, your vehicle most likely needs a transmission service.  Take precaution and avoid creating more expensive and lasting damage to your vehicle.

Brakes - You may notice rust on the rotor after your vehicle has been sitting for a while, which isn’t necessarily an issue, but if you have a noise that won’t go away when braking, it’s necessary to have your brakes checked and even replaced.  Do not wait to have any new sounds checked out.  Also, avoid leaving your parking brake on for long periods of time to avoid the brakes fusing to the rotor.

Fresh Gas - Keeping a full tank of gas will not only help you prepare for an emergency, but it will prevent moisture from accumulating inside the fuel tank and keep seals from drying out. You can also use a fuel stabilizer to prevent ethanol buildup causing oil deterioration and to protect the engine.  If keeping a full tank isn’t in your budget or you want to avoid going to the gas station to decrease risk of exposure, be sure to fill up with fresh gas and drive around to burn off old gas when your vehicle use goes back to “normal” daily life.
